The cooperation between the UNESCO Chair for Dialogue at the University of Kufa and the Hani Fahas Academy for Dialogue and Peace and the Al-Balaji Academy in Dar Al-Ulm for Imam Al-Khoei in Najaf and the Chair of UNESCO for Dialogue and the Institute of Islamic-Christian Dialogue at Saint Joseph University announced on Thursday morning (21 December 2017)

A ceremony for the Hani Fahas award took place for the first time at University of Kufa, this event was in collaboration with UNESCO Chair for Dialogue at the University of Kufa , Hani Fahas Academy for Dialogue and Peace, the Al-Balaji Academy in Dar Al-Ulm for Imam Al-Khoei in Najaf and UNESCO Chair for Dialogue and the Institute of Islamic-Christian Dialogue at Saint Joseph University. The ceremony began with the presentation of the national anthems of Iraq and Lebanon, this award was in celebration and to high light the relevance of academic activities aimed at establishing the spirit of peaceful coexistence. Dr. Hassan Nadhem ( Chairholder of UNESCO Chair) expressed the Hani Fahas Award is identify ,recognize and glorify the works of peacemakers who have contributed positively to social change.  Moderation begins by writing a new history of our heritage, rejecting all that embraces war and violence in the pages of history.

Speaking at the ceremony, UNESCO Advisor and Secretary-General of the Bahr Al-Ulum Charitable Foundation, Mr. Mohammed Ali Bahr Al-Uloum congratulated the Iraqis on their victory over terrorism, stressing that ensuring the future of our children and realizing their dreams can only be achieved by spreading the culture of coexistence, peace and pluralism
