An important meeting was held at the University of Kufa (UoK) combined the President of the University Prof. Dr. Mahdi Al Sahlawi and the UNESCO Chairholder, Dr. Hassan Nadhem with Crystal Procyshen, the Charge d’affairs at the Canadian Embassy in Baghdad. Dr. Al Sahlawi  has discussed many vital issues with Procyshen. Among the most prominent issues are the promotion of the mutual relation between the University of Kufa and the Canadian Universities and the ways to develop it on all levels. Dr. Al Sahlawi has introduced his host with the cultural, scientific and research projects that the UoK aims to fulfill in the near future in addition to explaining to the Candian party the prestigious place that the UoK occupies among the Iraqi University.

From his side and during the discussion of the meeting, Dr. Nadhem has informed the visiting delegate that the UoK has got the UNESCO Chair two years ago after a strong competition with a number of Arab Universities.  He adds that since its inauguration, the chair has worked on conducting various projects conerning peace making and reconciliation among different religions and sects.
