Professor Akeel A. Yasseen was the President of the University of Kufa from 2011 to 2017 and the general supervisor and the founder of the of the UNESCO Chair project at the University of Kufa. He is a teaching staff member at the Faculty of Medicine, proficient in English and Italian languages as well as the mother tongue Arabic. Prof. Yasseen holds a MSc Degree in medical genetics from Queens University, and PhD in medical and molecular genetics from University of Ulster (United Kingdom). He is also a research fellow at the Italian National Research Centre (CNR) and at the Instituto Superora Di Sanita in Rome (1990). Prof. Yasseen is a Visiting Professor at the University of Ulster and Centre for Molecular and Centre for Molecular Biosciences of Great Britain (2005) and Honorary Appointing visiting Professor at the School of Biomedical Science, University of Ulster (2006-2010).
