The Union of Writers in Najaf, hosted a panel discussion about the Shia Intelligentsia in Iraq, this event was sponsored by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Germany.

Dr. Ali Taher Hamoud presented his research paper entitled “The Nation-Statein Shi’a Iraqi Intelligentsia).

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation assigned Dr. Hassan Nadhem (Director of UNESCO Chair) and Associate director Dr. Ayad al-Anbar to discuss and provide commentary and critique on the paper.​
