UNESCO Chair For Dialogue Co-Establishes Center That Addresses Hate Speech

The founder of Center for Countering Hate Speech, Dr. Hassan Nadhem, also co-founded by the Masarat Foundation for Cultural and Media Development in Baghdad, which is supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the meeting was held in Beirut on March 16th 2018. The agreement of this center was signed by a number of Iraqi institutions such as Dar AlIlm (AlKhoei Institute) in Najaf, the faculty of Islamic Sciences and Political Science in, University of Baghdad, this center represents diverse Iraqi’s from various religious and ethnic doctrines. The Center undertakes training workshops for youth and university students to teach peaceful and academic ways to monitor, analyze, dismantle and address political, religious and media hate speeches. More than 800 individuals are scheduled to be trained this year. The UNESCO Chair will train 25 university students to address hate speech.
