The UNESCO Chair for Dialogue, representing the University of Kufa, participated in the conference held by the Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies on Monday, 24/1/2022.

The scientific conference entitled “The Historical Development of Education in Iraq and the Challenges of Its Consolidation After 2003”, and under the slogan, “Education is the basis for building peace and achieving national security.” In conjunction with the International Day of Education, which falls on January 24 of each year.

Dr. Alaa Shatnan, The Director of the UNESCO Chair mentioned that a conference addressed the historical path of education in Iraq with remarkable video presentations and research papers on the current challenges to education in Iraq, the ways to address them at the same time how we can use Japanese and Malaysian experiences to advance educational realities in Iraq.

The participation of the UNESCO Chair was as an invitation to all Iraqi universities to communicate with UNESCO, which is currently implementing a comprehensive plan for the advancement of education in the world, called the 2020-2030 Plan. These include broad innovative strategies and plans that will play a major role in the development of education in the world from both the immediate and long-term perspectives.
