On the occasion of the second anniversary of His Holiness Pope’s visit to the highest religious authority in Najaf al-Ashraf, the UNESCO Chair, in collaboration with the Imam Ali (peace be upon him) Center for Specialized Studies and Research, organized a panel discussion under the slogan: Peaceful Coexistence in the Methodology of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). The event was attended by the external research professor at the body of religious studies (Hawza Ilmiyya) His Eminence Sayyid Az-Aldin Al-Hakim, and the Vatican delegation, including Mr. Stephen B. Young from the United States, Lord Daniel Brennan from the House of Lords, London, and Mr. John Dalla Costa from Italy, Dr. Ahmed Al-Wakil from Qatar, Mr. Antonio Fream from Lebanon, and Professor Dr. Raed Sharafeddine from Lebanon.
The event was also attended by His Eminence Sayyid Ali Al-Jaberi, the General Supervisor of the Imam Ali (a.s.) Center for Specialized Studies and Research, Dr. Alaa Shatnan, the Director of the UNESCO Chair, and the members of the UNESCO Chair, Dr. Taha Fadel and Musab Abdul Zahra. During the panel discussion, two research papers were presented. The first paper, titled “Religious Minorities and Imam Ali’s Attitude towards Them,” was presented by Dr. Ammar Nasr. The second paper, titled “Justice and Social Peace According to Imam Ali,” was presented by His Eminence Sayyid Zaid Al-Helow. A dialogue and discussion on the topic followed, during which the visiting delegation expressed their admiration for the presented narratives that reflect the creative human thought of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). The atmosphere was characterized by a language of dialogue and understanding from their side.
At the end of the research session, thanks and appreciation were extended to everyone who participated in the event, as well as to the session’s moderator, Professor Dr. Sabah Annoz. The Vatican delegation was honored with the center’s shield, presented by Professor Dr. Hassan Issa Al-Hakim and Professor Dr. Yahya Al-Sultani.
