Director of the UNESCO Chair Meets with the Iraqi Ambassador in Paris

On the sidelines of the international conference organized by the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue in Paris, in collaboration with the Dominican University “Domuni” and the Imam Amir al-Mu’minin Center for Strategic Studies, Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa, along with the Iraqi delegation participating in the conference, met with His Excellency Dr. Wadee Batti, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to France, on Monday, May 13, 2024.

His Excellency the Ambassador welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of participating in such conferences. He touched on the aspect of cooperation between Iraq and France, particularly in light of the recent strategic partnership agreement between the two countries, highlighting the significance of collaboration in all major and promising fields.

Dr. Alaa Shatnan expressed his gratitude to the embassy and its staff for the support and facilities provided to the delegation, contributing to the success of the visit and the achievement of its objectives. He also praised the embassy’s services to the Iraqi community in France and its recent accomplishments, including Iraq’s election to a seat on UNESCO’s Executive Board and securing the position of Director-General of the Arab World Institute for Iraq.

Furthermore, Dr. Alaa Shatnan gave a brief overview of the role and activities of the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue at the University of Kufa, highlighting its local and international contributions to promoting a spirit of tolerance and dialogue based on citizenship within Iraq, and its openness to fostering relationships beyond the country.
