UNESCO CHAIR For Inter-Religious Dialogue Studies in The Islamic World
On Monday, April 21, 2025, Dr. Alaa Shetanan, Director of the UNESCO Chair, delivered a letter of support and cooperation from Dr. Alaa Al-Mawla, President of the University of Kufa, to Dr. Zainab Al-Mulla, President of Al-Zahraa University for Women in Holy Karbala.
The letter expressed the University of Kufa’s full support for the project proposed by Al-Zahraa University to establish the UNESCO Chair for Iraqi Women’s Leadership: Education, Innovation, and Sustainable Leadership, which is intended to be submitted for approval to UNESCO.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ghaidaa Abdul-Hussein, Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology. Discussions focused on exchanging ideas and exploring avenues for collaboration between the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue at the University of Kufa and the proposed UNESCO Chair for Iraqi Women’s Leadership at Al-Zahraa University.
Dr. Alaa Shetanan affirmed his commitment to providing comprehensive support and consultation in the preparation of the application file for the UNESCO Chair project. He also reiterated the readiness of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa to engage in joint activities and initiatives with Al-Zahraa University for Women.
