The UNESCO Chair for Dialogue Participates in a Symposium on The Inclusion of The Wadi Al-Salam Cemetery on The UNESCO World Heritage List.

Dr. Alaa Shatnan, the Director of the UNESCO Chair, participated in the symposium: “Inclusion Of The Wadi al-Salam Cemetery in Najaf al-Ashraf in The World Heritage (Opportunities and Challenges), which was held by the Faculty of Physical Planning at the University of Kufa on Tuesday, may10, 2022.”
The symposium discussed ways of putting the Wadi al-Salam cemetery on the UNESCO World Heritage List as the world’s largest cemetery for its history, heritage, religious, and ideological significance.
The symposium also included a discussion of research papers by a number of researchers from Kufa and Technological Universities in the Islamic Republic of Iran. In the end, it talked about how important it was for government agencies and UNESCO to follow up on the World Heritage List listing of the Wadi al-Salam cemetery in Najaf al-Ashraf.
