The UNESCO Chair Contributes the Publication of a Book on Iraqi Religions and Doctrines

A book entitled “Religions and Doctrines in Iraq” was issued in Baghdad . The book is the product of a series of meetings held by Iraqi religious institutions representing Islam (Shia and Sunnis), Christianity, Yazidis, and Mandaean Sabeans.
These religions are mentioned in article 2 of the Constitution of Iraq. The meetings have been marked by dialogue and discussion on topics of cultural, religious, and national dialogue and the relationship between different religions and cultures. They were attended by many clerics from all spectrums of the Iraqi people. The most essential aspect of this book is that the definitions were created by representatives of these religions and doctrines, based on their own beliefs and religion. This ceremony was attended by representatives of the institutions involved in the publication of the book, including the UNESCO Chair for Dialogue at the University of Kufa, which for several years participated in tours and discussions between religious institutions in Iraq.
