The UNESCO Chair participated in the 30th UNESCO Chairs Conference about “Transforming Knowledge for Just and Sustainable Futures,” which was held at UNESCO’s head office in Paris from November 3–4, 2022.

A large number of representatives of UNESCO chairs at universities around the world attended the conference. The UNESCO Chair for Dialogue at Kufa University was represented by Dr. Alaa Shatnan.

Several seminars, workshops, and scientific meetings were held over the course of two days to discuss how to invest in UNESCO chairs in international universities and how to get them to work together to promote scientific development in all of its areas for the sake of the future of a world with many crises and problems, in addition to how to facilitate scientific and technological advancements. 

Dr. Alaa Shatnan explained that several activities and tentative agreements had been signed on the sidelines of the conference with several UNESCO Chairs worldwide. He emphasized during his discussions at the meeting that the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa adopted the same attitudes of UNESCO Chairs regarding how people can live together peacefully and how hate speech can be stopped worldwide.
