Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue at the University of Kufa, met with Dr. Ali Rasbin, President of the Geopolitics Academy, at the academy’s headquarters in Paris on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming international conference to be held in Paris in September 2024, organized in collaboration with the Geopolitics Academy, the Iraqi Center for Documenting Extremism Crimes, and with the participation of the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue at the University of Kufa, as well as researchers from Iraq and France.
The conference will cover several key topics, including the legal dimensions—both Iraqi and international—of documenting extremism crimes in Iraq and globally. It will also discuss ways to curb and combat extremism and racism, the role of the United Nations and the UNITAD team in documenting extremism crimes in Iraq, and preventive measures in this regard.
