Dr. Hassan Zuhair Al-Sarraf, a member of the UNESCO Chair, participated in a research symposium titled “The Role of Najaf Al-Ashraf in the Challenges Post-2003,” organized by the Al-Balagh Center, affiliated with Dar Al-Ilm for Imam Al-Khoei, in collaboration with the Baghdad Riwaq Center for Public Policy.
The symposium was attended by a distinguished group of scholars from religious seminaries and universities. The speakers included researchers contributing to the “Political Discourse” journal, published by the Baghdad Riwaq Center for Public Policy. They discussed the pivotal role of Najaf Al-Ashraf in addressing the challenges that Iraq faced after 2003.
Discussions focused on the positions of the supreme religious authority, highlighting its efforts to prevent sectarian strife, encourage active participation in elections, issue the fatwa of defensive jihad, and address corruption while strengthening state institutions.
The symposium also reviewed the impact of the religious authority’s balanced discourse, which maintained national identity and influenced regional issues.
The event witnessed significant engagement and valuable contributions from attendees.
