UNESCO CHAIR For Inter-Religious Dialogue Studies in The Islamic World
The activities of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) kicked off in Beirut on Tuesday, April 9, 2025, with the participation of Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair, as the general coordinator for our university with the mentioned agency and as a representative of the French Language Department in the College of Languages at our university. The event spanned over three days and gathered 70 participants from 15 countries in the Middle East, representing French university departments, language centers, and other academic and research institutions, including the participation of four Iraqi universities: Kufa, Baghdad, Mustansiriya, Mosul, and Northern Technical.
The program includes workshops, round tables, and discussions on topics such as multilingualism, French language education, the impact of technologies on language learning, motivation in learning, artificial intelligence, and the labor market.
This event aims to strengthen cooperation among university institutions in the Middle East and to enhance the employability of students in French specialized studies.
It is worth noting that our university became an associate member of the Francophone University Agency through the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa on March 13, 2023.
