UNESCO Chair Participates in a Celebration on Francophonie and Cultural Dialogue

Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair, took part in a celebration organized by the French Language Department at the College of Languages on the occasion of the International Day of the French Language, held under the theme “Francophonie: Dialogue of Cultures in One Language,” on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, Dr. Alaa Shatnan spoke about the importance of the French language as a significant global means of communication. He emphasized the need to participate in various activities organized by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) in the Middle East, and encouraged students to strive for excellence in learning the French language in order to take part in the agency’s future events.

He explained that such participation opens the door to engagement with diverse cultures united by the French language, shared culture, and the pursuit of knowledge—thus fostering dialogue and the exchange of ideas among the peoples of the region, which positively contributes to intercultural and civilizational dialogue.
