UNESCO CHAIR For Inter-Religious Dialogue Studies in The Islamic World
On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research hosted a key meeting gathering representatives of UNESCO Chairs across Iraq to discuss preparations for the upcoming International Conference of UNESCO Chairs, scheduled for September 2025.
Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa, participated in the meeting alongside the directors of UNESCO Chairs from the University of Baghdad, the University of Mosul, and the American University of Baghdad. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hazem Baqir Tahir, Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, and attended by Dr. Muwafaq Sajet, Director of the International Organizations Department, along with representatives from the UNESCO and Arab and Islamic Organizations Division.
The discussions focused on the logistical and organizational preparations for the conference, which will be held in Baghdad under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with UNESCO and the Iraqi National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science. The conference is set to take place on September 24–25, 2025.
The meeting also addressed key topics including the conference agenda, thematic tracks, organizational mechanisms, and the roadmap for upcoming preparatory committee meetings, all aimed at ensuring the successful execution of this significant international event.
