Dr. Raed Obeis, a member of the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue at the University of Kufa, contributed to the authorship of three new books addressing the concepts of terrorism and extremism and the crimes associated with them. These publications were issued by the Iraqi Center for Documenting Crimes of Extremism on 2 January 2026.
The books constitute a significant academic contribution to the study and analysis of contemporary phenomena related to extremism and terrorism, which profoundly affect societies, their peaceful coexistence, and the prospects for dialogue among their national components.
The publications explore a wide range of themes, including defining the concepts of terrorism, examining the causes of extremism, analyzing its repercussions on security and societal peace, and outlining mechanisms for confronting and countering these challenges. Produced in collaboration with a group of specialized academics and researchers, these works reflect a collective scholarly effort to address and critically engage with these sensitive and pressing issues.
