The UNESCO Chair Participates in a Cultural and Dialogical Forum

Within the framework of the UNESCO Chair’s sustained engagement with a culturally diverse society—and in furtherance of its mission to advance the prospects of peaceful coexistence and interreligious dialogue—Dr. Raed Abis, member of the UNESCO Chair, took part in a cultural forum convened by the Riwaq for Culture and Arts in the Governorate of Holy Najaf. The event was held on Thursday, 22 January 2026, in the hall of Riwaq for Culture and Arts.

The forum hosted an academic and cultural delegation from the University of Mosul and the Lamassu Organization for Culture, a body whose membership brings together both Christian and Muslim personalities in a spirit of shared civic and intellectual commitment.

The gathering featured addresses and cultural activities that called for the consolidation of tolerance, the intensification of meaningful social dialogue among Iraq’s diverse components, and the strengthening of opportunities for enduring peace. Emphasis was placed on repudiating all forms of discrimination and division, and on collectively confronting the forces that threaten the fabric of pluralistic coexistence.
