UNESCO CHAIR For Inter-Religious Dialogue Studies in The Islamic World
Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa, took part in the periodic meeting of UNESCO Chairs held on Monday, February 9, 2026, via an online platform.
The meeting was convened at the invitation of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, to deliberate on the ongoing preparations for the International Conference of UNESCO Chairs in Iraq, scheduled to be held at the beginning of next May.
The session was chaired by Dr. Hazim Baqir Taher, Director General of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the Ministry, and attended by Dr. Muwafaq Sajit, Director of the Department of Arab and Foreign Organizations and Head of the UNESCO Division, alongside the directors of the six UNESCO Chairs in Iraq.
During the meeting, participants engaged in comprehensive discussions concerning the conference agenda and its thematic axes, as well as the projected number of international and local participants representing each Chair. The deliberations also extended to various logistical arrangements and organizational preparations necessary to ensure the success of the forthcoming international gathering.
