The UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue holds a scientific symposium on “The Heart and the Core in Language, the Holy Qur’an, and Physiology” in collaboration with the College of Medicine

In collaboration with the Department of Physiology and the Student Activities Unit at the College of Medicine, the UNESCO Chair organized a scientific symposium titled “The Heart and the Core in Language, the Holy Qur’an, and Physiology” in the hall of the College of Medicine on Monday, March 25, 2024.

The symposium aimed to shed light on the meanings of the heart and the core in language, the Holy Qur’an, and physiology, a topic that has been explored in a recently published book bearing the same title. The symposium was chaired by Dr. Asaad Al-Aboudi, Head of the Department of Physiology at the College of Medicine, who in his lecture addressed the relationship between the heart and decision-making, as well as its influence on higher centers in the brain. In his lecture, Dr. Tahseen Fadhil Abbas, professor of linguistics at the College of Arts and a member of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa, emphasized that the heart is not merely a blood pump but is endowed by God with the ability to control and participate in decision-making.

At the conclusion of the symposium, certificates of appreciation were presented by the UNESCO Chair to the distinguished lecturers.
