Dr. Hassan Zuhair Al-Sarraaf, a member of the UNESCO Chair, and Dr. Ali Hakim Saleh, a member of the advisory board of the “Intellectual Studies” series published by the UNESCO Chair, participated in a research symposium on translation titled “From Arabic to Humanity: A Decade of Translation and Dialogue of Civilizations”. The event was held on December 10–11, 2024, in Doha, Qatar, marking the tenth anniversary of the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding.
The symposium was attended by a distinguished group of professionals in the field of translation and cross-cultural exchange involving the Arabic language.
The event was organized into two sessions. The first session, titled “Translation from and into Arabic: Realities and Prospects”, explored the current state and future potential of Arabic translation. The second session, titled “The Role of the Sheikh Hamad Award in Enhancing Translation Quality Standards and How to Further Develop This Role”, focused on the award’s contributions to advancing translation standards and its developmental outlook.
Following the conclusion of the symposium, participants and researchers attended the award ceremony announcing the winners of the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation for the year 2024.
