UNESCO Chair Participates in a Seminar on Interreligious Dialogue at the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine

On the sidelines of the “Spring of Martyrdom” conference sponsored by the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, the UNESCO Chair for Interreligious Dialogue at the University of Kufa took part in a seminar held at the shrine on Thursday, February 15, 2024. The seminar included participants from the Vatican, as well as scholars and clergy from Romania, Lebanon, Iran, Madagascar, and other countries, along with Iraqi scholars and religious figures.

During the seminar, Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair, delivered a speech in which he outlined the objectives of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa. He emphasized the importance of interreligious dialogue both within Iraq and beyond to create tolerant and reconciled communities. He also reiterated the Chair’s readiness to collaborate with various religious and academic entities to ensure the success of the interreligious dialogue project in Iraq.
