The UNESCO Chair Participates in the Closing Day of UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week

Paris, France — The activities of “Digital Learning Week 2025: Harnessing Technology in the Service of Education” concluded on Friday, 09 May 2025, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, with the distinguished participation of Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa.

The fourth and final day was devoted to hands-on workshops and interactive sessions designed to transform theoretical discussions into concrete, actionable steps.

Intensive Workshops Mark the Final Day

The morning sessions featured a series of high-level workshops addressing pivotal themes, including:

• AI Readiness: A deep examination of how policymakers and educators can be equipped to engage with artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

• AI and Health: A workshop dedicated to formulating guiding principles for the use of AI in health-education tools, with the aim of supporting learners and empowering communities.

• Programming and Digital Literacy: Another session explored coding and literacy in the age of artificial intelligence, aspiring to equip diverse groups with essential digital competencies.

Afternoon Sessions Highlight Innovation and Global Impact

The momentum continued through the afternoon with workshops centered on the practical applications of AI:

• Innovation in Africa: A design-thinking workshop supporting AI-driven projects in East Africa, with an emphasis on nurturing local creativity and home-grown solutions.

• Education for Peace: Sessions that delved into the implications of a digitally saturated educational ecosystem, particularly regarding peace education, well-being, and sustainability.

• Capacity Building: Discussions on how to strengthen capabilities for AI-driven transformation, moving from abstract principles to effective real-world implementation.

Throughout the Digital Learning Week, a Partner Exhibition showcased the latest innovations in educational technology, offering participants the chance to explore cutting-edge tools and solutions. Daily networking events further enriched the week, providing a global platform for exchanging expertise and forging future collaborations among participants from around the world.
