UNESCO Chair Partakes in the Closing Day of Digital Learning Week at UNESCO

Paris, France — On Friday, September 5, 2025, the curtain fell on Digital Learning Week 2025: Harnessing Technology in the Service of Education, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, with the distinguished participation of Dr. Alaa Shatnan, Director of the UNESCO Chair at the University of Kufa. The fourth and final day was consecrated to hands-on workshops and interactive sessions, designed to translate theoretical deliberations into tangible action.

Intensive Workshops on the Final Day

The morning unfolded with a series of workshops on pivotal themes, among them:

  • Readiness for Artificial Intelligence: Exploring how policymakers and educators might be equipped to navigate the expanding horizons of AI and digital innovation.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Health: A workshop devoted to establishing guiding principles for employing AI in health education tools, with the ultimate aim of empowering learners.
  • Programming and Digital Literacy: A session that cast light on programming and AI literacy, designed to extend empowerment across diverse communities.

Afternoon Sessions: Innovation and Global Resonance

The afternoon carried forward with workshops steeped in practical applications of AI:

  • Innovation in Africa: Employing design thinking to nurture AI projects in East Africa, in the hope of fostering homegrown innovation.
  • Education for Peace: Discussions centered on the implications of a digitally saturated educational ecosystem, particularly in relation to peace education, well-being, and sustainability.
  • Capacity Building: An inquiry into how capacities might be fortified for AI-driven change, bridging the distance between principle and practice.

Exhibition and Global Exchange

The Digital Week further hosted an exhibition by supporting partners, affording participants the chance to discover the latest innovations in educational technology. Complementing these were daily networking activities, which offered a fertile ground for participants from every corner of the globe to exchange expertise and forge pathways toward future collaborations.
